Describing the governance of the incumbent administration as “a tragedy” Mr. John Mahama said “we have a government completely unwilling to acknowledge the problems and even begin the processes to address them.” He noted that instead, the government assumes the issues can be “wished-away through sloganeering, public relations, populism, divisive rhetoric, and plain political deception.” Speaking at a public lecture to climax his ‘Thank You’ tour on Wednesday, the former President observed that these actions and inactions of the government have been detrimental to the country’s development. “The most pressing problem is the impact of the ailing economy on livelihoods, prospects and dreams. Suspended member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) now a social commentator Bernard Allotey Jacobs has advised Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen to withdraw from the NPP flagbearership race or forfeit to become speaker of Ghana’s parliament in 2024. According to Mr Jacobs, it will be very easy for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the NPP to victory in 2024."The NPP should select Vice-President Bawumia as its flagbearer in 2024 for a one-touch victory.” “The only person who can worry Bawumia is Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen but I think Alan should adopt Joe Biden of America’s style. The leadership of the party must quickly set in to talk to him to withdraw from the race. So they appoint him speaker should they break the 8-year chain, or else what happened in 2008 that cost their victory is likely to happen again,” he told Don Kwabena Prah on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben. Meanwhile, other fractions in the NPP are seriously lobbying for Alan Kyeremanten to lead the party in

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the seat of government of endorsing what he says are illegal and irresponsible actions being showcased by heads of the country’s Electoral body. This follows a supposed meeting held by some Electoral Commission officials at the Airport City Escape Hotel in Accra Saturday. Mr. George, who had earlier secured a court injunction against a planned workshop by the EC in his constituency said the move was a violation of the country’s laws and impropriety.
