Davido donates over $600k birthday money to charity after crowdfunding from colleague musicians

Nigerian superstar, Davido has moved to donate over N250 million ($600,000) to charity.  This amount was garnered after the Afrobeat singer jovially invited his friends and industry mates to send him money for his birthday celebration.  On Thursday, November 18, the ‘La La’ singer broke the internet as musicians sent huge sums of money from all over the continent to celebrate him.  Due to this, the award-winning musician amassed over N200 million in barely two days as he intermittently shared screenshots of each transaction.  However, he seems to have made changes to the motive for the re quest  In a post on Twitter, Davido announced his decision use the sum to alleviate the plight of orphans in Nigeria.  He explained that additionally, he “will be making a personal donation of N50,000,000 bringing the total amount to N250,000,000.” “My goal is to do this fundraising every year to celebrate my birthday and give back to people in need,” he added.

Court orders police to release mobile phones of Shatta Wale, accomplices

  The Accra Circuit Court 4 has ordered the release of mobile phones belonging to Shatta Wale and his teammates, which are still in police possession.  Lawyer for both the dancehall artiste and his team members, Jerry Avenorgbo, told judge Emmanuel Essandor that the items were confiscated upon his clients’ arrest and have since not been released. He argued that his clients being lifestyle and entertainment personalities largely depend on their mobile phones, and the police’s continuous withholding of same hinder their survival. According to Jerry Avenorgbo, all pieces of information the police would need for their investigation are already on social media as such, going into his clients’ phones would only serve to breach their privacy.   Reggae/Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale and industry mate, Medikal are scheduled to reappear in court later today. The young man who is known as Gideon in an interview on Vision1 FM recounted how his father died in his presence at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. According to him, it was a very painful and devastating moment as his father took his last breath. He noted that his father has always been his source of counselling and his last moment with him was not different. Brouhaha over KOD, Jon Germain exiting EIB Report that TV and radio personalities like Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and John Germain have left EIB Network, the owners of GHOne TV and Starr FM, is generating a lot of controversies. KOD and Jon worked with the EIB in the last five years and were presenters on Starr FM until they announced their exit. Their exit follows earlier claims that several others have left the media organisation over salary allegations. Announcing their exit on Saturday, KOD and Jon were thankful to have worked at EIB and said they’ve parted ways with the company. “After 5 straight years at EIB, we mutually parted company last Thursday. It’s been 5 awesome years with an amazing family.
